Interactive Sound @ HKU

Hi,

This is the humble home of the Interactive Sound course at HKU by Jakob Schlötter.

You will find here your lessons and code.

Interactive Sound lesson 0 - 17.04.2019

pre - assignment

There are three video files without sound:
- Tuttle's End (Brazil)
- Cropduster (North By Northwest)
- Arthur Zanetti Artistic Rings Gold (Olympics 2012)

Make a soundscape for these movie scenes, and try to change how they feel.

Instructions:
- pic two of the movie scenes (north by north west, brazil or olympics)
- download them here
- get an audiorecorder for today
- record sound and noises around the academy that you think fit to the atmosphere of the scene.
- put your recordings under the scenes and bring them next week.

Important is here more the atmospheric fit, and NOT the editing.
Keep the recordings as raw as possible. You should think about how you can influence or control the perception of the scenes, and how much power the sound gives you here. It does not have to be perfect. Your recordings will probably be rough, use that for expression!

A good approach would be:

ONLY USE AUDIO THAT YOU RECORDED YOURSELF :-)

interesting links:

Download Audacity

because of licensing issues and because not all audio formats are free software, you have to install an import/export library separately, if you want to import audio formats as m4a, aac, etc

install import/export library for Audacity on Windows
direct link to the installer for Windows
install import/export library for Audacity on mac
direct link to the installer (lame) for Mac
direct link to the installer (ffmpeg) for Mac

Download DaVinci Resolve

That's it!
